A showroom-ready production version of the BMW i8 Spyder, first revealed as a concept in early 2012, reportedly approached his debut.
Unfold even before his brother has entered production coupe, the i8 Spyder has still not been given the green light, with concerns over the application of carbon fiber reinforced plastic body in the form of convertible understood as a major hurdle project.
Now, according to a new report by the British Autocar, BMW engineers finally developed a solution that will bring i8 Spyder for production in the near future.
The report adds that the second concept version will appear first, however, the Consumer Electronics Show in January in Las Vegas is believed to be the place. A market-ready version could follow the month after.
Power will likely be provided by a combination of 266kW / 570Nm each of the three-cylinder 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor that gives the coupe when a 0-100km / h just 4.4 seconds.
