Audi Q7 2016 reviews and specs

The second generation Audi Q7 seven seater SUV amazing weighs 325kg less than the original, and cheaper to run and better to drive as a result. This is Audi's most technologically advanced products ever, and mampurem, accelerating and directing himself at speeds of up to 37mph.

Best 4x4s and SUVs

But still no other grounds were perfect. Although slightly narrower and shorter than the old Q7, the interior still has room for seven people, along with all their belongings. An optional four-wheel steering system makes it more maneuverable at low speeds and more stable when you speed, while the adaptive air suspension is another added enhancements worth decisive for tender and extraordinary journey it provides.
Our selection:

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI 272PS quattro S line

The first generation Audi Q7 made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show way back in 2005. This is a great success for the brand - proves that Audi can make a luxury SUV to rival the likes of the Range Rover and Volvo XC90. It was so successful, in fact, that has since spawned a smaller variant in the form of Q5 and Q3. This second generation model arrives in showrooms in 2015.

Q7 is a seven-seat SUV MLB Evo platform based on the new VW Group. It also underpins the Audi A4 compact executive car is new, and is also set to form the basis of the next Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne SUV.

Audi was built at VW Group's Bratislava plant in Slovakia - a facility that not only makes the Touareg and Cayenne, but also produce body structures for the MLB Evo-based prestigious Bentley Bentayga. However, unlike his siblings sharing platform, the Bentley SUV will be sent to Crewe HQ in Cheshire for the final assembly.

The new Audi Q7 revealed at 2015 Detroit Motor Show, and styling - including a large trapezoidal grille - are expected to filter down in other models in the range.

While famous for its original Q7 performance 335bhp 4.2-liter V8 diesel, at the launch of a new car there is only one engine choice: a downsized 3.0-liter V6 TDI. But it still delivered 268bhp.

A lower-powered 215bhp version of the same model since it was introduced, for around £ 2,500 less, and plug-in hybrid diesel Q7 is also on the road. While the shift from V8 to V6 have seen the power down a little, the weight of the Audi have fallen, too, so they give a strong performance.

Currently only two trim levels are available in the regular line-up: SE and S line of high-spec. Both are equipped with a very good, however, and Q7 remains a mainstay technology for the Audi brand.

At the top of the range there are SQ7, which carries a twin-turbo diesel V8 engine that is packed with innovative features, not to mention enough torque and power to take the 2.3 tonne SUV from 0-62mph in less than five seconds.
Innovation in the Q7 include Traffic Jam Assistant - on carriageways clearly-defined - completes the adaptive cruise control to take over the task of steering a speed below 37mph. You can also specify a four-wheel steering, while the selection of infotainment devices including tablet-style for passengers.

Engine, performance and driving

Lighter, more agile, smooth-riding and even fun to press on, Q7 is the true king of the road

It's clear that Audi is targeting the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with the new Q7 as the driving experience is all about luxury.

adaptive air suspension (which is designed to maintain the level of the body all the time), and display car smoothly over the surface even bumpiest this set-up will prove beneficial to anyone to avoid potholes and speed humps. It used to be standard on the Q7 car.

through mode Audi Drive Select (or set the individual parameters yourself to steering, throttle and suspension in the 'Individual' mode), and Q7 latest is certainly more agile than the original, and you can feel more of what was going on through the seat of previous. It was largely thanks to the new chassis MLB Evo, which uses 71 per aluminum per cent, combined with high strength steel, helping to cut 325kg from the kerbweight predecessor.

In Comfort mode, the steering is light and short on feedback, but the car is much more willing to change course and is rock solid stability at high speeds. It was helped by a new system of four-wheel steering, another feature, which turns the rear wheels with two degrees in parallel with the front wheels at high speeds.

At low speeds they turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front, cut by the meter turning circle - and beat the current Audi A4 in this case.

This is a 4x4 you can drive at high speed and tight, too. Ramp it up and Q7 Dynamic mode immediately feel more alert - it is never rude, but taut body control, which gives you more confidence to push the car harder. Quattro permanent four-wheel drive provides excellent traction, too.

steering is not full of life, but there are some nuances, and with a snap of a smooth eight-speed auto box up and down with the steering wheel paddles, you can have a surprising amount of fun this big SUV rushing around.

Though the Q7 is not designed to match the Range Rover off-road, quattro system is more than capable of carrying the car through a muddy field or a track slippery. In normal operation it splits torque 40:60 front to rear, but can send up to 85 percent of torque to the rear wheels if required.

In fact, some Q7s never would have left the road, and overall the car is very pleasant and relaxing to drive either in town or on the motorway. It helps that the seats are comfortable and very little outside noise entering the cabin.

Only one engine and gearbox combinations are available in the UK to begin with - a 3.0-liter TDI diesel with 268bhp and 600Nm of torque is connected to an eight-speed automatic. It was enough to propel the Q7 two tons of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, but like the smooth delivery of power that accelerates harder still relaxing experience.

There is a lesser version is powered by 215bhp and 500Nm that they can do 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds. However, in reality it seems far less punchy and a little harder, emitting a typical diesel rattle under load.

These problems are certainly not worth £ 2,300-plus saves list price and fuel economy slightly ahead, so we'll go for a higher-powered option. And besides, buyers chasing the highest efficiency of Q7 they should wait to get diesel-electric e-tron plug-in hybrid model, which promises 166mpg economy and 50g / km CO2 emissions.

Regular diesel engine has an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox. Overall it responds quickly to inputs and very smooth, though on occasion it may clunk into first when pulling in the intersection.
MPG, CO2 and running costs

The only option is the launch engine of 268bhp 3.0-liter TDI. Other markets get a 3.0-liter TFSI petrol, too, but the diesel claims 47.9mpg fuel economy and 153g / km CO2 emissions.

These figures are slightly better than 47.1mpg and 158g / km promised by the BMW X5 30d M Sport, although Audi offers an extra pair of seats and has the power of 14bhp more. That figure 153g / km putting the Q7 in road tax band G, so that the private buyer will pay £ 180 a year in VED, and means the car pull 29 per cent Benefit in Kind rating for the car company.

More efficient 215bhp version of the 3.0 TDI that since joining the line-up claims 49.6mpg and 148g / km over 18-inch wheels, so it will be a little cheaper to run. On top of 19-inch wheels, the official economy drops to 48.7mpg, while CO2 emissions are increased to 150 g / km - but it is still only in VED Band F, meaning an annual road tax bill of £ 145.

The near plug-in hybrid Q7 e-tron combines 254bhp 3.0 TDI engine with an electric motor 124bhp integrated into the gearbox, result, generating a total of 368bhp and 700Nm of torque, but Audi claims it returns impressive economic 166mpg and emit a tax-busting 50g / km CO2.

SQ7 not exactly cheap to run, although the figures are still impressive for something this heavy and strong. He arranged a combined fuel economy of 39.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 190g / km; it was not quite as clean as hot diesel BMW X5, but comfortably clear of people like the Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne S. insurance group

Entry-level Range Rover 3.0 TDV6 Vogue starting from group 45 and the BMW X5 xDrive25d from a group of 37, although the Volvo XC90 with the 2.0-liter diesel engine is downsized kicks off at insurance group 33.
shrinkage

Experts put the Audi Q7 is native to the upper bracket depreciators 'good', as a model detained up to 56 percent of its value after three years showroom. Only two SUVs to do better is the Audi Q5 with an impressive 72.5 percent and 65.4 percent in the Skoda Yeti. We must wait and see whether the new Q7 adhering to the price as well, but we would not be surprised if it does.
Interior, design and technology

impressive technology

Q7 featuring a new design direction for 'Q' Audi SUV family, so expect a future replacement for the Q5 and Q3, as well as new Q1, to follow the same line. The most striking element is the large three-dimensional grille that announce the arrival of this Q7; there are also LED lights as standard on S line models, which also has 20-inch wheels.

With a strong beltline running back from the headlights along the side of the car, there are hints of the old Audi Quattro wheelarches shaped box, which is more interesting, flowing roofline and silver roof bars give it a modern look.

At the front, a giant trapezoid grille with silver edging is a trademark of Audi's new SUV was flanked by headlamp clusters, while interesting design their running lights gives the Q7 a crisp, clean attitude from the front. In profile, the car a little bland, because only from the standpoint that you get a sense of creased and curved surfaces.

The design is understated in the rear, with a large tail-lights that mimic the shape of the headlamps. Lower rear bumper not only looks great thanks to the twin rectangular tailpipes are integrated, but practical, because there is no lip.

Q7 benefits from plush and appealing layout. dashboard has a modern design, minimalist and classy type of material built using typical Audi. Features such as optional panorama glass roof adds a further touch of luxury, plus you can personalize the interior with a variety of colors and finishes.

stereo and infotainment

Q7 has many premium kit. LED lights, cruise and four-zone climate control comes as standard, as does an electric heated sports seats, Bluetooth, keyless go and sat-nav. However, the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Audi, which adds a screen in front of the driver, is a hi-tech addition we recommend, because it allows you to view a map of the sat-nav on the big screen. This is standard on SQ7.

There is a second screen that appears on top of the dashboard, and even though the Q7 has a wheel command system and a touchpad on the center console, steering wheel controls can perform most of the work. Audi Connect provides access to E-mail, and there are two options Bang & Olufsen sound system with up to 23 speakers.

rear passengers can enjoy a pair of removable, tablet-style touch on the seatbacks, which will stream content from a smartphone via Bluetooth.
Practicality, comfort and the boot space

Seating seven seats, large boot and impressive towing capability set apart as the new Q7 SUV ultra-practical

The latest version of the Q7 which maintains a sleek SUV / Crossover now familiar line at Audi 'Q' line-up, but with a more compact exterior dimensions than its predecessor, the company has done well to improve the interior packaging.

The driving position is excellent, with plenty of scope to adjust the seat and steering wheel, and great visibility from a commanding driving positon. If the sheer mass car will be scary for some drivers, the parking assistance system will be welcomed.

High-rise Audi Q7 has lost none of the existence of the road regardless of the dimensions are slightly smaller. At 5,052mm long, 1,968mm wide and 1,741mm high, it is still one of the biggest car on the road - old Q7 measured 5,089mm by 1,983mm by 1,772mm.

The new Volvo XC90 approximately 5cm and 3cm shorter width of the latest Q7 and Range Rover shorter by the same amount.

Leg room, head room and passenger space.

Although it is shorter, narrower and higher than the Q7 old, new cars actually offers more head and leg room in all three rows - achieved through smart packaging and chairs thin - and the layout of the seven seats are fully configurable to allow the owner to get the most out of it.

The third line is designed especially for children, but adults are smaller can squeeze in there for a short trip, as long as the second row slides to its forward most position. To make access to the third row easier, folding second row seats and a forward tip. If you do not need the third row, just pressing a button on the inside of the boot and this seat fold flush into the load floor. Each seat passenger in the Q7 features Isofix mounting points as standard.
boots

With all seven seats in place, the big Audi offers 295 liters of boot space - almost the same as the Ford Fiesta - accessed via a standard powered tailgate. But it expands to 770 liters when you close the third row. Fold the second row forward as well, and there is a huge 1955 liters to play with - almost 100 liters more than in the new Volvo XC90.

If you tow a caravan, you are in for a treat. Electrically deployable trailer hitch is on the list of options and allows you to tow up to 3.5 tonnes, although you need to book an adaptive air suspension as well. Other useful options include powered luggage compartment cover, soft-close doors and heated windshield.
Reliability and Safety
4.7
Audi excellent reliability record matched by Euro NCAP five-star crash test rating for maximum Q7

Audi is famous for its quality and reliability of components, and Q7 have to live up to this. Engine and gearbox is a development of the existing technology, so evident in the real world, while the interior feels solid enough to stand up to the bumps and scrapes of family life.

Q7 electrical system is very complicated, though, with an arsenal of cameras, sensors and high-power computer processors all built into the car. Only time will tell whether they can stay glitch-free. What we do know is that the Q7 is packed with cutting-edge technology that will help to take some of the stress out of driving, but also keep you out of danger.

standard equipment on both SE and S line models include rear parking sensors, cruise control, adjustable speed limiter and low speed auto braking function.

Buyers can also specify options such as park assist function autonomously and continuously active lane assist. One step out of it, and new to the class, something called Traffic Jam Assist. A development of adaptive cruise control, can take over the wheel (as well as braking and acceleration) on the road is well marked with speeds of up to 37mph.

Audi also offers a wide range of service and maintenance packages for the Q7 through its dealer, at a cost that varies according to the level of cover required. The rate should be widely competitive with competitors such as BMW and Volvo.
